October 10, 2023
As the Dot & Dash calendar rolled over to October - each team member was given the opportunity to GIFT a specific item (or two or three!) from our beautiful jewelry line to someone special they knew who had been impacted by a battle with cancer. Our artisans, makers, accountants, marketers, photographers, and client services specialists were asked to select a favorite design (a custom word … or a standard design) for a friend, co-worker or family member who has been in the thick of things fighting this insidious disease.
And so … nominations poured in from our staff. From care-givers to cancer survivors, our staff shared words of hope with a crew of resilient women around the country. Read on for a few of the highlights of encouragement and hope from our “October Cancer Awareness” Campaign.
Kathie received a “Hope in Christ” necklace design from one of our Austin Team members who reflected "Kathie is someone who has a constant smile … and her faith in Christ overflows to those around her. She still reaches out to serve others - even when she is facing so many challenges herself."
One of our Austin beading team members, Susan, sent a “strength” bracelet to the doorstep of two women she loves, Julie and Melanie. Both of these women have battled cancer over the past few years and Susan couldn’t wait to share these words of encouragement with them.
Liz received a custom “Francine Rasberry” necklace from the Dot & Dash Team. Liz is an amazingly strong human who has battled cancer over the past 6 years. This beautiful necklace represents the main character of the children’s book she is authoring and planning to publish.
Another staff member, Kris, created a personalized necklace for her friend, Tracy, who has battled Leukemia. She selected Tracy’s life verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” as a custom creation for her precious friend.
One Dot & Dash Team member sent two meaningful verses to her strong cancer surviving friends in Louisiana. She shipped a Psalm 91:11, “for He will command his angels … to guard you in all your ways,” design to her friend, Anne. And, she sent a Philippians 4:6-7, “do not be anxious for anything…” bracelet to her friend, Annette.
Finally, one of our Dot & Dash Team Members designed a custom pair of earrings for her sister. Her sister’s husband, Brent, had a hard, 10-year battle with brain cancer. She shared, ”Over the past three years [1,095 long days] since Brent’s passing, my sister has fought for joy and beauty in her writing and in her daily life. Brent never lost his sense of humor ... and he had the very best laugh ... even to the end. I pray now that these 'Keep the Light On’ earrings would be a hope-filled reminder for her as she puts them on.”
Working together to shine the light of hope to a struggling world continues to be a driving force behind our designs. We have seen the smiles that come when a powerful word is shared through a thoughtful gift -- and we know that is one DAILY WIN in this long battle against cancer.
Join Team Dot & Dash this month and share the power of hope-filled words with someone you love!
