From the opportunities to drop by vineyards in flowing valleys … to watching for moments in mountain towns … the fun of sharing meaningful gifts with women across the US is just so awesome! We love to give away our Dot & Dash jewelry through our "Dash of Kindess" deliveries. And, sharing the stories of the outstanding women who receive these designs -- through our social media and our blog -- continues to be a highlight for Team Dot & Dash.
Over the past few weeks - our crew was traveling in the Rocky Mountain area - and we enjoyed sharing a few surprise jewelry giveaways along the way.
As the sun began to set one evening, we were completing a gondola ride to the top of the mountain. Side note: the gondola system in Telluride serves as a unique public transportation and it connects the town at the base of the mountain with the top of the peak area known as Mountain Village. While hopping off the gondola, we spotted two women in elegant formal gowns. They were laughing and talking near us and so we asked them about their beautiful attire. “We were attending a mountainside wedding when the rain began so we are making our way back to dry off before the reception begins,” one of the women shared. We introduced ourselves and they mentioned that they were mother and daughter. The beautiful mom, Donna, shared that one of her other daughters was also on the trip and was serving as the maid of honor in the wedding! At this point, we explained that we had the opportunity share impromptu giveaways from our hand-crafted jewelry line out of Austin Texas. Donna and Krissy were all smiles as they received the “Girl Mama” design that we were carrying with us that evening. And next, another cool moment happened ... this lovely mom (who happended to be from Texas as well) let us know that she is actually the “Girl Mama” to 4 beautiful daughters. How fun!
Next, we traveled to the center of the state and settled into Breckenridge for a few days to enjoy a bit of outdoor music and to visit the wonderful arts community in this mountain town. In our humble opinion, there are very few more enjoyable ways to spend a fall afternoon, than to enjoy music and art in a lovely mountain town. And so, after biking to town on a sunny trail and soaking in a bit of street music at the Oktoberfest festival, we met a new group of artists taking a plein air oil painting course. Take a look at their course offerings and more @BreckCreate if you are planning to be in the area! This arts community offers a world of art courses including pottery, drawing, painting, and more.
With a mixture of locals and visitors in attendance, a lovely art instructor, Tracy, shared her love of art with her students. She encouraged the artists to be brave as they approached the canvas to begin to sketch and paint. She shared her strategies for painting landscapes and how to capture the light and shadow in the details. At the end of the course, inspired by Tracy’s kindness and talents, we shared a Dot & Dash Design “courage” bracelet with her. We invited her to watch for a student over the next few weeks who might need encouragement in her artistic bravery or ... just in life. We asked her to share the Dot & Dash “courage” bracelet when she found the right recipient. She received the bracelet with a smile. Discovering that this line was hand-crafted in Austin, she also let us know that she was a fine arts major who earned her degree from the University of Texas in Austin. She and her family had settled in the Breckenridge area about 6 years ago. Check out her beautiful work and art through Colorado Brushstrokes. Chalk up a few cool intersections of jewelry giveaways, joy-filled moments, and outstanding women!
