At Dot & Dash, we have the amazing opportunity to meet dynamic boutique owners across our nation. Watching these teams achieve their dreams and goals continues to greatly inspire us. Today we are dropping by The Palm Tree, a beautiful boutique conceived by Rebecca and Colin Grunewald, that now thrives in the historic and rapidly growing North Texas communities of Grapevine and Denton.
Visiting with Rebecca, we learned how the story behind The Palm Tree took flight. “My husband, Colin, and I worked together to launch this dream. We both have finance backgrounds and put our skills to work researching the top Texas towns for our boutiques. Colin narrowed down the first search to Denton, a college town, where we planted our first ‘Palm Tree’ on the square in 2015. Next, he honed in on Grapevine a town with historic charm that was becoming a tourist destination. We opened our Grapevine store in a great main street location in 2016. We loved Denton and Grapevine so much as they both offered beautiful boutique spaces in vibrant, friendly, strong communities,” explained Rebecca.
Rebecca shared how her background in finance and fashion are utilized daily. “The summer before my senior year in college, I interned in NYC for Nicole Miller - and I loved my time there working in fashion. I also decided to pursue my degree in finance. I’ve always loved a bit of both - fashion and finance. Shopping for outstanding products at market, and combining gift lines and fashion, brings me joy. I love that my job lets me do both! I enjoy selecting the products and tracking how the lines do with our clients. My husband is behind the scenes managing all of the details for both stores - finance, HR and more - to make both of our locations run!”
The Palm Tree vision was clear for this family. Rebecca explained, “Our name, ‘The Palm Tree,’ invites our clients to take a shopping vacation each time they visit our stores. Our layout and store designs are intentional - everything is bright and vibrant and our colors are beachy! Many of our customers stop by often to see the latest trends in fashion and gifts - shopping at The Palm Tree is always a fresh and new experience.”
“Our locations are similar, yet unique. Both towns have grown rapidly since we opened our doors. The Grapevine location’s proximity to DFW Airport and the Gaylord Hotel & Conference Center, means many visitors new to Texas stop by our store. Our customers fall in love with our team and our products. They follow us on social media after they head back home and have become like family as they continue to shop with us,” added Rebecca.
“At our Denton location, you will feel the fun vibe behind this college town’s relaxed and artistic culture. Denton is a foodie heaven with live music and shopping offered on the downtown square. We love employing local college students from the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University. Many will work with us all four years and become like family. We love to invest in our staff and see them grow,” explained Rebecca.
The Palm Tree has always been a top producer for Dot & Dash, with the Grapevine location being our top selling store the past couple of years. Rebecca shared, “We have done so well with the Dot & Dash line from the very beginning … but the line has truly exploded over the past two years. Our employees believe in the Dot & Dash line - and they are great at telling customers about it. There is always a ‘why’ behind the word our customers choose and we love that! They may be a cancer survivor and the word ‘Hope’ resonates or the ‘Love You More’ bracelet may be the perfect word for our clients to select as a gift for a special someone."
Dot & Dash is very honored to be closely partnering with Rebecca and the entire team at The Palm Tree. We love learning from great entrepreneurs and helping them grow their dreams, while they help grow ours in return.
